Onward!
Day 10: A Childhood Memory
There are two childhood memories that are very close to my heart, so I took two photos on this day.
First and foremost, this prompt just so happened to fall on the would-be 73rd birthday of my dearly departed grandma, so it's quite fitting. She gave this dinosaur to me at my mom's baby shower (before I was even born!). I'm not sure it's ever been washed, and I'd like to keep it that way. The soft yellow fur is now grey and dingey, the music box no longer tinkers out "Born Free", and the dinosaur's head no longer bobs to the music. That said, I love it more now that I ever could have as a child. It's quite possibly my most treasured possession.
Next, this memory is admittedly a little odd. If you didn't know, I was born in Washington State and lived there until I was nine. It's called The Evergreen State for a reason- it rains like a bitch. Although I'm not a fan of gloomy weather, rain droplets on warm pavement is my most favorite smell in the entire world. Mike thinks it's so weird, but to me, the smell that's created when those first few drops hit the ground is absolutely intoxicating and brings me right back to our cul-de-sac in Tacoma.
Day 11: Something Blue
I'm a sucker for animals, so whenever I pass by a pet store, I'm always tempted to go in and play. I figure it must get pretty boring for those poor caged in puppies, so I'd like to think I provide some sort of fleeting entertainment. At this particular pet store, I was greeted by these gorgeous blue birds when I walked in the door. I wouldn't mind having a few pet birds...
Day 12: Sunset
I clearly went super abstract here. Once again, the weather didn't cooperate (surprise, surprise) and the sky was completely covered in clouds as the sun set, giving quite possibly the most anti-climactic sunset in the history of time. So instead, I filled a glass with water and swirled in a few drops of food coloring, with a little yellow at the bottom (the sun, duh). Stupid weather.
Day 13: Myself with 13 things
Day 13. Yourself with 13 things. How creative. I was going to do scarves, but as it turns out, I only have 9. I struggled to think of what the hell I have 13 of that could fit into a photo, and makeup brushes it was! I think a few were outside of the shot, but whatever. I counted.
On a non-Photo Challenge note, I returned the wall mounted animals . I thought I'd love them, but something about them just irritated me. In their place (behind the computer desk), I whipped these up last night:
Three 8"x10" canvases painted matte grey on top and metallic gold overlayed with gold leaf on the bottom. I think I kind of love them.
Also, returning those animals left room in my ceramic menagerie for this:
I shit you not. It's the f*cking dog I posted about a week ago! I was perusing TJMaxx as I often do, and what the hell was staring me in the face? THE DOG. I swear I have never in my life seen one of these in my local TJMaxx, and then I blog about it and MAGIC! A week later it appears! I swear I'm psycho psychic.
Feel free to tell me I have issues. It's okay, I can take it.

LOVE your abstract thought on sunset!
hahaha you crack me up. Great photos--I love the wet pavement photo. Also, awesome find with the dog!! It'll go so well with the collection :)
Great photos! I too love that rain concrete/asphalt smell :)
I LOVE your sunset picture. I don't think I'm going to get a real sunset either, so I'm trying think of clever sunsetty things ;-)
First of all, rain on warm pavement is also my favorite smell in the world. Second of all, you have NO IDEA how jealous I am of that dog. I want one SO BAD!
I love those DIY pictures, we need pictures badly but are cheap so something like this just might work!
